Exam Overview

AZ-900 tests whether you can recognize foundational cloud concepts and choose the most appropriate Azure concept, service, or management tool for a short scenario. You are not expected to design complex enterprise systems or configure services from memory. You are expected to identify whether a scenario describes public, private, or hybrid cloud; whether IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, or serverless is the best fit; which compute, networking, storage, or identity service matches the requirement; and which governance, cost, monitoring, or deployment tool solves the problem. Every question is a decision problem: identify the requirement, highlight decisive words, eliminate services from the wrong category, and select the simplest Azure option that directly satisfies the requirement. The strongest distractor often solves a nearby but different problem.
